AC/DC – High Voltage
‘High Voltage’ was the first song written and recorded for the album T.N.T.
The title ‘TNT’ was inspired by the previous album title. Issued as the first single before the T.N.T. sessions began, many fans thought it was from the ‘High Voltage’ album.
The song was first released in Australia as a single in July 1975, and it is the eighth track of their second Australian album T.N.T. The song was written by Angus Young, Malcolm Young, and Bon Scott. The song peaked at No. 48 on the UK Singles Chart in 1980.
The song is one of AC/DC’s most popular songs, and has been included on four of the band’s five official live releases. In concerts, the song has evolved into a sing-a-long with the crowd. In the bridge to the words… ‘I said high, I said high’, in ever increasing loudness and high pitch, to which the crowd responds whilst Angus Young does some improvisation on the guitar.
AC/DC – High Voltage – lyrics
(Well) You ask me ’bout the clothes I wear
And you ask me why I grow my hair
And you ask me why I’m in a band
I dig doin’ one night stands
And You wanna see me do my thing
All you gotta do is plug me into high
I said high
High voltage rock ‘n’ roll
High voltage rock ‘n’ roll
High voltage, High voltage
High voltage rock ‘n’ roll
Rock ‘n’ roll
You ask me why I like to dance
And you ask me why I like to sing
And you ask me why I like to play
I got to get my kicks some way
And You ask me what I’m all about
Come on and let me hear you shout high
I said high
High voltage rock ‘n’ roll
High voltage rock ‘n’ roll
High voltage, High voltage
High voltage rock ‘n’ roll
Rock ‘n’ roll
I said high, I GET high
Waaaah!
High voltage rock ‘n’ roll
High voltage rock ‘n’ roll
High voltage, High voltage
High voltage rock ‘n’ roll
STARS, FALLING ON THE GROUND
SPOTLIGHTS, FOOTLIGHTS, I’LL TELL YA
High voltage rock ‘n’ roll
High voltage rock ‘n’ roll
Wine, women and song
High voltage, high voltage
JUST GET ME TURNED ON. I’m SPARKING, MAN
High voltage rock ‘n’ roll
